Choose a film you can follow
Read three separate details: spoken language, subtitle language and running time. A film being international does not guarantee English subtitles. For a group with different language needs, an English-language screening or a film explicitly subtitled in English is easier to agree on.
Use the programme sections to narrow your search. LIFFe's announced format includes emerging filmmakers, established directors, festival favorites and shorts. Make a shortlist of three films, then compare dates and venues; do not choose a pass first and hope suitable screenings will fit.
Venues and ticket decisions
Cankarjev dom and several cinemas host the Ljubljana programme. The organizer also lists venues in other Slovenian cities, so confirm both the city and the hall on your ticket. At a larger venue, the building name alone may not identify your screen.
If you only want one evening, compare single-screening tickets before buying a bundle. For several films, check whether a pass still requires individual reservations, whether preferred shows have seats and whether the product is transferable. Keep a copy of each actual booking rather than only a payment confirmation.
A comfortable two-film plan
Choose the first film for the afternoon and the second for the evening, with a meal between them. Staying at one venue reduces travel risk. If you change venues, include the first film's full running time, any discussion you want to attend and enough time to enter the next hall.
A city walk or museum visit fits better earlier in the day than a long excursion with an uncertain return. In wet weather, keep a dry layer for the cinema and check where bags and coats can go. Ask the venue about wheelchair seating, captioning or hearing support for the specific screening.
